Telethon 2025: Luke Taylor and Jakeb Coleman embark on major running challenge to raise funds for sick kids

Two young runners, whose determination, who did not know any limit, identified their landscapes at some serious kilometers in order to raise money for Telethon.

28 -year -old Luke Taylor returned from Rockingham to Perth and last year to support Telethon.

This year, thanks to Telethon’s Challenge campaign, it aims to 10 times the distance.

Luke hopes to rise 1000km in just seven days in the treadmill and to break the official world record in this process.

The record for the biggest distance run on a treadmill in seven days is 843.94km. It was founded in 2019 and works for about 120km a day.

However, between 17.00 and Sunday, October 12, Luke hopes to be 142km per day – equivalent to more than three marathons per day.

This is a very personal challenge for Luke.

“I was born early in 24 weeks, weighing only 625 grams,” he said.

“This is something I am passionate about.

This year, every year, it aims to gather $ 800,000 for eight percent of premature babies in Australia every year.

“I wouldn’t be here today without life -saving equipment through Telethon,” he said.

Luke is not the only enthusiastic runner that connects his shoes for a good purpose, but the 12 -year -old Jakeb Coleman begins to challenge his own running plans to run 73km from Mandurah to Mandurah, starting from October 4th.

The war with a rare childhood kidney cancer called Jakeb’s Wilms tumor or a rare childhood kidney cancer began at only 18 months.

The insidious disease left him with traumatic memories of a kidney and painful procedures in his early years.

Jakeb, “I spent most of my first five years in the hospital and hospital. I witnessed cancer trauma first -hand,” he said.

“I want to do this to give it back.

His mother Vanessa Coleman said that they think about how we can help children who have passed similar things ”.

“Great, he’s a really loving boy,” he said.

Ms. Coleman said that the cancer treatment of her little child is “terrible and heartbreaking”.

“You are very desperate. The people there (Perth Children’s Hospital) helped us to go on this issue,” he said.

However, 12 -year -old Jakeb is ready to go and is enthusiastic to watch the 26 -hour Tefon, as he did last year on October 18th and 19th.
