Shots fired outside Steer Road shopping centre, NSW Police operation underway
A major police operation was launched following a shooting outside a shopping complex in south-west Sydney, with witnesses describing the moment masked attackers fired several shots outside a gym and then a man fled for his life.
Police rushed to a car park in Steer Road, Gregory Hills, at around 8.35am on Friday and found several bullet casings. No injuries were reported and police believe the targeted man immediately left the scene.

Two gunmen dressed in balaclavas and dark clothing are believed to have shot at the man and was released after fleeing the complex.
A car park adjacent to a shopping center on Steer Road, which includes World Gym and Service NSW, was blocked off by police tape and emergency vehicles.
Detectives were photographed interviewing a person outside the entrance to World Gym, which is part of an exclusion zone marked by police. A black ute blocked movement on the road leading from the car park, while numerous traffic cones were placed in the restricted area.
A witness named Lucas told 2GB that he saw two men wearing ski masks and armed with guns enter the shopping complex and fire eight or nine shots.
“It looked like there was someone running, but when I got the description I had already run away,” said Lucas, who was preparing stock in his shop when the shooting occurred.

Another witness, Jack, counted 10 shots of “rapid fire” from Service NSW on Steer Road. He called 2GB from a secure room inside the store, along with other customers and staff.
