Want To Be in Thick of Things, Always Wanted To Do a Tough Job: Bumrah

Ahmedabad: India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah said he likes to take responsibility in pressure situations and described his T20 World cup defense as one of the most satisfying of his career.
Bumrah played a magnificent role with four wickets as India became the only team to win the T20 World Cup three times with a crushing 96-run defeat to New Zealand in the final.
“I don’t want to hide behind, I want to be in the middle of things. I always wanted to do a tough job,” Bumrah, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, said in a video shared by the BCCI after the win. he said.
“That’s why I played cricket. That’s why I started cricket. When I can make a difference, it gives me so much joy. There’s no better feeling than that.”
The victory also carried emotional significance for the Gujarat-born pacer as he arrived at the place where his cricketing journey began.
“I started my cricket here. I played all my cricket here, playing for Gujarat here, winning the World Cup here, winning, coming up through the ranks as Man of the Match. The last time we came up short, we came through really happily this time.”
Bumrah also spoke about his family’s presence during the championship victory and said that the moment was deeply personal.
“My son came. He was there last time, he was there this time too. My mother came, it was very special.
“I don’t know the exact cycles but I’m really happy, back-to-back World Cups never happen. I’m really grateful to God, he’s really been kind and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
