Prime Minister to launch projects worth ₹10,800 crore at Kochi event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development projects worth around 10,800 crore in Kochi on Wednesday. The projects will be launched at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a Polypropylene Unit at the Kochi Refinery of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The unit, with an annual capacity of 400 kilo tonnes, will be set up with an investment of over 5,500 crore. Polypropylene is an important material used in packaging, automotive parts, medical devices, textiles and household products.
Mr. Modi will inaugurate the six-lane Thalapady-Chengala section of NH-66, built at a cost of over ₹ 2,650 crore. According to a communication, this section forms part of the Mumbai-Kanyakumari Economic Corridor and will strengthen connectivity between Kasaragod and Kannur districts and neighboring districts including Mangalore and Muzhapilangad.
The six-lane Kozhikode Ring Road from Vengalam to Ramanattukara will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Built at a cost of around Rs 2,140 crore, the project is expected to reduce travel time along the road from one hour to around 15-20 minutes. In the communication, it was stated that the project will also increase tourism and trade in the region by improving connectivity to important destinations such as Kozhikode Beach, Beypore Port and Kappad Beach.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 23 rural roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the state.
Three railway stations (Shoranur Junction, Kuttippuram and Changanassery) redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Program are also planned to be inaugurated on this occasion.
The Prime Minister will dedicate the Shoranur-Nilambur Road Railway Line Electrification Project to the nation. It will also inaugurate a new train service between Palakkad and Pollachi. The news also stated that the foundation stone of the 50 MW Floating Solar Power Project at West Kallada in Kollam will be laid at this event.
