Family pay tribute to ‘beloved’ funfair worker who died in fairground accident

The family of a fairground worker who died after experiencing serious head injuries paid tribute to his relatives and described him as “eternal loved”.

Initially, 28-year-old Corrie Lee-Stavers of the Sunderland region, Saturday, Tyne and Wear were killed on a journey in the Spanish City Summer Funfair in the Gulf of Whitley.

Shortly after 14.15 on Saturday, Northumbria police reported that a man was injured in a workplace accident.

Emergency services joined the scene and found that Mr. Lee-Staers had a serious head trauma.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Mr. Lee-Stavers died.

Northumbria police said that his family was supported by expert officers

“We share the destructive news that dear Corrie died with broken hearts,” his family said with a tribute.

“While working on a fairground journey, it was tragically taken from us in an accident. None of us was prepared for it and it is impossible to put the pain of losing it into words.

“Our lives will never be the same without him, but his memory will live in our hearts forever.

“We love you forever, Corrie and you miss you more than words can say you.

“Now you are with our mother – lie in peace Corrie.”

The fair would be open from Thursday to the bank holiday on Monday, but it was closed.

The Northumbria police contacted the Health and Safety Manager (HSE), who helped investigations to determine exactly what happened.

“Corrie’s family wanted privacy while processing the loss of their loved ones.” He said.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family in this extremely difficult time.”

Summer City Funfairs also made a statement that confirms that his colleagues were dead on Facebook on Sunday.

“One of our favorite colleagues on Saturday, August 23, 2025 Saturday after a tragic accident in the Spanish city Funfair’deki unfortunately broke to share that he passed away.” He said.

“Our team is like a family and we are all deeply affected by this loss.

“As a sign of respect, the Spanish city Funfair will remain closed this weekend, we will spend time to mourn together.

“We want your understanding from you and our thoughts and love with this sad time with his family and friends.”
