SP flags off marathon against drugs in Vellore

Police Inspector A. Mayilvaganan launched a free marathon at the old bus terminus opposite the Fort complex in Vellore on Sunday as part of the ‘War on Drugs’ campaign.
According to the press release, the marathon was jointly organized by Sripuram Sri Narayani Peedam and Sri Narayani Schools. Approximately 1,500 volunteers, including students, teachers, social activists, green club members and police personnel, participated in the event. Led by Mr. Mayilvaganan, the participants took a pledge against drugs and other banned substances.
The seven-kilometer run ended at the Netaji Stadium, located behind the Vellore Fort complex. Vellore Mayor Sujatha Anandakumar honored the winners with awards and certificates in the presence of Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Center (SNHRC) director N. Balaji, the statement said.
