Former Fed Governor Larry Lindsey withdraws name for Fed chair

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Larry Lindsey has withdrawn his candidacy for the Fed chairman position, CNBC’s Eamon Javers reported Thursday.
“I have a very varied and enjoyable life right now, and I don’t want to stop going through the mill of public life,” Lindsey told Javers via text message on Thursday.
Lindsey was one of the candidates interviewed by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. President Donald Trump is considering a list of candidates to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, whose term ends in May.
