Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah backs Rahul Gandhi, says CEC Gyanesh Kumar must atone for his sins

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday threw his weight behind AICC leader Rahul Gandhi in his campaign against the election commission of India (ECI) and said chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should accept the truth and atone for his misdeeds.

The CM said in a post on

“These records show how the Election Commission, which is supposed to protect democracy through transparent and impartial elections, colluded with the Union Government to strangle the democratic system it was supposed to protect.”
In the Maharashtra and Karnataka Assembly elections, the BJP and the Election Commission created fake voters using the identities of Indian citizens. However, the CM said they went a step further in Haryana and even used the identity of a Brazilian model for voter fraud. This time, India’s democratic reputation is certain to suffer international humiliation, he added.

Although almost all pre-election polls predicted the defeat of the BJP in Haryana, the people were determined to topple the BJP government. Siddaramaiah said Gandhi has now made a clear statement on how the BJP still managed to get majority and form the government.
