Justice Yashwant Varma resigns amid parliamentary proceedings to remove him

Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Varma, facing a Parliamentary motion for his removal, submitted his resignation to the President of India on Thursday (April 9, 2026).

His resignation came amid reports that a panel appointed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla under the Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968, had been set up to look into allegations of recovery of burnt money during a fire at his official residence in Delhi last year.
