King Charles ‘shocked and saddened’ after soldier dies at horse show he attended

Buckingham Palace, King George III. He said Charles was “shocked and saddened” to learn this week that a British soldier had fallen to his death at a royal horse show.
The soldier died during a performance by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Friday evening.
Thames Valley Police said in a statement that the unidentified soldier fell after leaving the arena after the performance, and although he was treated, his injuries were serious and he died at the scene.
Police said the horse show would go ahead as planned on Saturday but without another display by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

Charles attended the horse show on the grounds of Windsor Castle with his younger brother Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, their daughter Lady Louise, who worked at the show, and the king’s sister Princess Anne.
Following the soldier’s death, the king met with members of the King’s League at a horse show upon his return on Saturday.

“Although Her Majesty and other members of the royal family were present in the arena when the incident occurred, they did not realize the seriousness of the situation until later,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said, according to the London Times. he said.
The spokesman added: “The King was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the subsequent death of the service member and will be contacting the family to share his personal condolences. The thoughts and deepest condolences of the entire royal family are with the victim’s loved ones and military colleagues at this time of sorrow.”
Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s after-hours request for comment.

The annual horse show is the only time when the private grounds of Windsor Castle are open to the public.
On Saturday morning, police appealed to the public for any information about the soldier’s “unexplained but not suspicious death”.

“We have not found anything suspicious at this stage,” police said in a post on Facebook. “We are working with the British Army, the Ministry of Defence, the Defense Accident Investigation Branch and the Royal Windsor Horse Show organisers, HPower, to gather as much information as possible to understand how this happened.”
