Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Partap Singh Bajwa termed the FIR lodged by Jalandhar police against Pargat Singh and Sukhpal Khaira as “a blatant abuse of State power and a shameful attempt to divert attention from a serious problem.”

“The political terrorism of Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party was badly exposed as the speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha issued a privilege notice to the Jalandhar police commissioner to register the FIR on the premises (video) of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha proceedings,” he added.

“This bogus FIR against us has confirmed our oft-repeated allegations that Punjab has been turned into a police state by Bhagwant Mann to terrorize, intimidate and threaten his rivals,” Mr. Khaira said.

The Delhi Assembly took cognizance of the Jalandhar police FIR and said strict action would be taken against the Jalandhar Police Commissioner.

“This [the FIR and use of the clip] This amounts to a breach of privilege and strict action will be taken against the Jalandhar Police Commissioner as the video clip is the property of the Delhi Assembly. We are taking this matter into consideration,” said Speaker Vijender Gupta.

Ms. Atishi, on the other hand, accused the BJP of engaging in petty politics by highlighting the name of the ninth Sikh guru.
