Tamil Nadu government formation: Know the TVK Ministers in C. Joseph Vijay’s Cabinet

The new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, was one of the biggest stars of Tamil cinema who dominated Kollywood for the last 30 years. After appearing as a child actor in Vetri in 1984, he made his debut as a lead actor in his father SA Chandrasekhar’s film Naalaya Theerpu in 1992. During his career spanning more than three decades, he starred in 68 films and became the highest-paid actor in Tamil cinema. 69th movie Jana Nayagan has not been released yet.

Mr. Vijay, elected from Perambur and East Tiruchi, is entering the Assembly for the first time. In February 2024, the fan association and social service organization converted the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam into the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam political party. The 51-year-old actor-politician had dropped out of his undergraduate studies at Loyola College in Chennai in 1992 to pursue his film career. Apart from acting, he also serves as correspondent of Vijay Vidyashram and as managing director and trustee of various trusts.

N. Anand

N. Anand, known as ‘Bussy’ N. Anand, is the general secretary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and is second in command after party president C. Joseph Vijay. Before taking on a major political role in TVK, he headed Mr. Vijay’s fan club and social service organisation, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.

Elected from T. Nagar Assembly constituency in Chennai, Mr. Anand has the distinction of being elected to legislatures in two different States/Union Territories. He was first elected to the Puducherry Legislative Assembly from Bussy constituency in 2006, from which he earned his popular nickname. He was selected as the candidate of Puducherry Munntra Congress.

A native of Puducherry, the 62-year-old leader was educated up to Class IX in the Union Territory before entering public life. Over the years, they emerged as Mr. Vijay’s closest colleagues and played a key organizational role in candidate selection at TVK.

KA Sengottaiyan

KA Sengottaiyan, one of the senior-most legislators in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, is the chief coordinator of the senior committee of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Mr. Sengottaiyan, a 10-time MLA, was first elected to the Assembly from Sathyamangalam in 1977 as an AIADMK candidate.

The 78-year-old leader has won consecutive elections from Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency in Erode district since 1980, except for the 1996 and 2001 elections. This is the first time he has been selected as a candidate for TVK. A prominent AIADMK leader for decades, he also served as former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s campaign manager and was in her first Cabinet between 1991 and 1996. In 2011, he briefly served again in Ms. Jayalalithaa’s Cabinet before being dropped and later became the School Education Minister in the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led government in 2017.

Before Mr. Sengottaiyan joined the TVK in November 2025, he had made efforts to reunite the AIADMK, but the attempts did not succeed.

Aadhav Arjuna

Aadhav Arjuna, elected from Villivakkam Assembly constituency in Chennai, is entering the Assembly for the first time. A sports administrator and political consultant, he serves as general secretary (election campaign management) of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

The 43-year-old leader played a key role as DMK’s political advisor before joining TVK in January 2025. He later joined Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi led by Thol. Thirumavalavan and became the deputy general secretary of the party. While in the VCK, he increased his demand for a share of power, which triggered a controversy and led to his suspension from the party. He later parted ways to join Mr. Vijay.

Mr. Arjuna, the son-in-law of lottery tycoon Santiago Martin, also runs the Voice of Commons political consulting firm. Apart from politics, he has also been actively involved in sports management and currently serves as the president of the Basketball Federation of India and the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association. He is also the general secretary of the Tamil Nadu Olympic Association. He holds a BA in Political Science from Madras Christian College.

KG Arunraj

KG Arunraj, an outspoken leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, hails from Salem and was elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly from Tiruchengode constituency. A former Indian Revenue Service officer, Dr. Arunraj currently serves as general secretary (policy and propaganda) of TVK.

The 46-year-old leader holds an MBBS degree from Madras Medical College. Before joining the Indian Revenue Service and holding various positions in the Income Tax Department, Dr. Arunraj worked as a doctor at the Primary Health Center in Dharmapuri district.

TO Nirmalkumar

CTR Nirmalkumar, elected from Thirupparankundram Assembly constituency in Madurai, is joint general secretary of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and one of the key spokespersons of the party. He is entering the Parliament for the first time.

The 44-year-old served as the State president of Tamil Nadu BJP’s Information Technology and Social Media Wing until March 2023 before joining TVK in January 2025. He later joined the AIADMK, where he served as joint secretary of the party’s Information Technology and Social Media Wing.

Hailing from Usilampatti in Madurai district, Mr. Nirmalkumar has an academic background spanning engineering, law and social sciences. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an LL.B. degree and a Master’s degree in Criminology and Police Management.

A.Rajmohan

A. Rajmohan, elected from Egmore (SC) Assembly constituency in Chennai, is entering the Assembly for the first time. A popular YouTuber, he started his career by giving voice to social causes in the digital space and gradually gained recognition by appearing as a show host on various YouTube and television channels.

The 39-year-old actor is known for his Tamil oratory skills and public speaking. Hailing from Pallavaram, Mr. Rajmohan pursued higher education in management and journalism. He holds a degree in Business Management from IIT Madras and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Madurai Kamaraj University.

P. Venkataramanan

P. Venkataramanan, elected from Mylapore Assembly constituency in Chennai, is the treasurer of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He is also one of the two candidates elected to the 17th Tamil Nadu Assembly from the Brahmin community.

An advocate by profession, the 48-year-old leader has an academic background in commerce, business management and law. He holds a Master of Commerce degree from Annamalai University, Master of Business Administration degree and LL.M degree from Periyar University. degree from Annamalai University.

TK Prabhu

Coming from a politically connected family, TK Prabhu was elected for the first time from Karaikudi Assembly constituency. Dr. is a dentist by profession. Prabhu is also active on social media and has built a public profile through his outreach activities.

The 41-year-old leader, who hails from Devakottai, has various qualifications in Dental Sciences, including advanced degrees and scholarships from institutions abroad.

S. Keerthana

S. Keerthana, 29, one of the youngest MPs in the 17th Tamil Nadu Assembly, will be a first-time legislator from Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district. Ms. Keerthana holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Madurai Kamaraj University and a master’s degree in Statistics from Pondicherry Central University. He speaks Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English.
