America’s fourth estate, a frequent subject of Hollywood’s most gripping thrillers and a pioneer of the sacred principle of free speech, is at a crossroads. While some of America’s most respected magazines and publishers appear to be voluntarily dismantling some of the pillars of a strong, free press, the Trump administration is rejoicing in its demise and actively attacking those who remain stragglers.
