Pilot and 11 skydiving passengers killed in Missouri plane crash | Missouri

12 people died in a plane crash near Butler, Missouri, on Sunday.

Accordingly A Bates County Emergency Management private plane left Butler Memorial airport shortly before 11:30 a.m. and returned before crashing near Business 49 Highway, Fox 4 reported.

Sources said that 11 of the victims were paratroopers and 12 were pilots.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Missouri state highway patrol, Butler police department, Bates county sheriff’s office, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board (KMBC). reported.

Videos posted online showed white smoke rising from the wreckage of a heavily damaged plane in a grassy field.

The Missouri state highway patrol confirmed the crash in a post on X. saying: “Troopers are on scene assisting the Butler Police Department and Bates County Sheriff’s Office with a Fatal Plane Crash near Butler Memorial Airport. At this time, reports indicate that all passengers (12 total) are dead. Updates to follow.”

The Guardian has reached out to BPD, NTSB and FAA for additional comment.
