M8 traffic LIVE: Chaos on major motorway with city centre ‘gridlocked’ | UK | News

Motorists on the M8 faced traffic chaos this morning after a large section of the UK’s major motorway was closed, leaving a huge city center “congested”. Overnight work has concluded on the eastbound section between junctions 18 and 15 in Glasgow.

Traffic Scotland said access to the exit from junction 16 Craighall, junction 18 Charing Cross and junction 19 Anderston will remain closed. No deadline was given for the reopening of intersections. The chaos led to long queues in the Cowcaddens, Kingston Bridge and Kinning Park areas. Drivers have now taken to social media to express their anger and frustration; one of them claimed this morning that “the whole of Glasgow city center is gridlocked”.
