US tennis star Taylor Fritz reacts to getting called out on live TV over skipping Aus Open’s 1 Point Slam

Expressing her regret at skipping the Australian Open’s 1 Point Slam pre-tournament event this week, American tennis player Taylor Fritz shared her sarcastic reaction to being called out on live TV for not showing up for the match.

The exhibition event pits amateur players and wildcards against bona fide stars in a knockout draw for a $1 million grand prize, held just days after the Melbourne-based grand slam’s official start on Sunday.

Sydney amateur player Jordan Smith attended the event, besting world number two Jannik Sinner, and Fritz expressed his “FOMO” as he chose not to attend.

“Now I’m watching it on TV, it’s a big L from me to not get a one-point shot, that looks like a lot of fun,” he shared to X.

But not only was the star’s social media post shared live on air during the broadcast, but commentators Renae Stubbs and Todd Woodbridge directly called her out for skipping the event.

“Taylor, get your ass out here next year,” Stubbs said.

“Come on, you should be here,” Woodbridge added, pointing to the world No. 9.

Fritz’s girlfriend and well-known influencer Morgan Riddle captured his live reaction to the comment in a video shared to his Instagram story with the caption “fomo :(“.

Fritz looked upset as the camera panned from the television to the topless star; The star nodded slightly and grinned, admitting that she had made a mistake in judgment.
