Man falls to his death during Madison Square Garden concert, police say | New York

A 51-year-old man fell to his death during a concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, police said.
New York police said in a statement that officers responding to an emergency 911 call at around 9:51 p.m. found the man unconscious and unresponsive, with his injuries indicating that he had fallen “from a high position.”
He was taken from the famous arena in midtown Manhattan to Bellevue hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release his name.
Connecticut-based rock band Goose was booking the second of two nights of concerts.
The group posted a statement on Facebook, saying it was “deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic incident that has occurred.”
Madison Square Garden, often known simply as the Garden, has returned to one of its main tracks as a music venue after becoming the city’s centerpiece when it hosted the New York Knicks defeating the San Antonio Spurs en route to their first national basketball championship in more than 50 years.
The arena also hosts political rallies from time to time, but is mostly known for concerts and basketball games.
The incident occurred inside the venue on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning it was unclear from what height the man jumped. According to the authorities, it was understood that the person was sitting in the balcony section and was at the concert with his wife.
