Remnants of Cyclone Ditwah Bring Rain to Several Parts of Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Various parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore and Ranipet, continued to receive moderate showers on Monday due to the remnants of cyclonic storm Ditwah, which remained closed to the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast.

The IMD said that the system, which has turned into a deep depression, will weaken further and the debris may cause rain. It is likely to remain dormant as a weakened system for the next 24 hours.

“The deep depression (remnant of cyclonic storm Ditwah) over the southwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining northern Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast moved northward at 10 km per hour over the last 6 hours and lay in the same area, approximately 90 km south-southeast of Chennai, 90 km east-southeast of Puducherry, 110 km east-northeast of Puducherry. The weather bulletin said, “Cuddalore, “It is 180 km north-northeast of Karaikal,” it said.

It was located about 50 km off the northern Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast and would gradually weaken into a depression around noon on December 1.
