NASA hiding ‘critical evidence’ about 3IATLAS? Harvard Scientist makes explosive claim against the American space agency as the comet approaches nearest point to the sun

3IATLAS, an interstellar comet, has kept astronomers, scientists and even NASA alert and curious since its discovery. Various theories regarding its structure and shape have emerged, sparking controversy among careful observers. One of the scientists who closely examined and analyzed 3IATLAS is Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, who claims that there is a 40% chance that the comet is alien technology.

Interstellar comet 3I/Atlas was discovered by NASA’s ATLAS telescope on July 1, 2025. It is the third observed interstellar object to enter our solar system. Loeb accused the American space agency of withholding critical information about the interstellar object. According to Loeb, the Manhattan-sized interstellar comet may have extraterrestrial origins.

The Harvard astrophysicist made these claims during a recent appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. While speaking on the podcast, Loeb emphasized how the intergalactic object challenges comet behavior. He explained that the jet-like emission was directed toward the sun rather than toward it as is standard, and that he “didn’t see any comet tails here.”
Perihelion for 3I/ATLAS will occur on October 30, 2025, when the interstellar transit will be 1.35 astronomical units (125 million miles or 202 million kilometers) from the sun (One astronomical unit is the average Earth-sun distance – approximately 93 million miles or 150 million km.). Perihelion is the point in an object’s orbit where it is closest to the sun.

Loeb’s claim against NASA

“Surprisingly, the best image was obtained on October 2, 2025, when 3I/ATLAS came within 30 million kilometers of Mars,” said Harvard scientist Loeb. “Surprisingly, the best image was obtained on October 2, 2025, when 3I/ATLAS came within 30 million kilometers of Mars.” “I wrote to HiRISE’s principal investigator, ‘Can I have the data? I’m a scientist,'” Loeb claimed, adding that he “didn’t get a response.”
He claimed to have been asked if this was evidence that NASA was hiding some sensational data, to which he replied: “It’s much more likely to be about terrestrial stupidity, not extraterrestrial intelligence.” NASA has yet to confirm such a photo or the storage of the image in question. The New York Post has reached out to NASA for comment.
During the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, Loeb suggested that the photo may have provided evidence against NASA’s claim that a typical jet will transform into a typical comet tail in September 2025. Previously, Loeb had speculated that 3I/ATLAS might be extraterrestrial in origin for various reasons.

What did NASA officially say about 3IATLAS?

According to NASA’s official statement, the interstellar object does not pose a threat to Earth and may even provide invaluable information that will help us protect the planet in the future.
