ULFA-I Alleges Drone Strikes On Myanmar Headquarters; Indian Army Refutes Claim | India News

On Sunday, the United Independence Front, which was banned from Asom (Ulfa-ı), claimed that there were drone attacks by the Indian army in the eastern center of Myanmar. The forbidden outfit in a press release also claimed that 19 staff were killed in strikes and 19 were injured.

However, the Indian army rejected any role in the drone attacks on the Myanmar headquarters of Ulfa-ı.

Has the Senior Ulfa-ı Commander killed?

According to the news agency ISANS, reports claimed that the senior Ulfa-i commander Nan Medhi was killed in the drone attack. Moreover, the camps of Manipur in the camp, the political wing of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), including some Manipuri rebel groups were killed and some were reported to have been injured.

Indian Army rejected the role

Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, who spoke to Ians, rejected the participation of the Indian army in such an operation.

“There is no input in such an operation with the Indian army,” Lt Col Rawat said. He said.

Ulfa-i’s connections in Myanmar

Ulfa (i), directed by Pareh Baruah, is reported to have been left with Arunodoy Dohotiya, a senior official in Myanmar. On the other hand, another senior commander of the forbidden outfit operating from Myanmar camps Rupom Asom was arrested in May by Assam police.

People familiar with the issue said that these attacks on IANS ULFA (I) headquarters could be caused by the fight between these banned clothes.

Myanmar’s political scenario

Myanmar is currently ruled by Tatadaw (Ordu) and witnesses the attacks of several militant clothes, and the India-Myanmar border has been used several times by these banned clothes to establish camps.

In May 2025, at least 10 militants were killed in the encounter with security forces close to the Indian-Miyanmar border in the Chandel region of Manipur.

The struggle and activity of the militants near the border is a matter of concern for the Indian security organization.
