Epstein files show Elon Musk planned visit to island, host at SpaceX

Newly released documents from the Epstein files on Friday showed that Elon Musk corresponded with the convicted sex offender in 2012 and 2013 as they discussed meeting at Jeffrey Epstein’s private island and at Musk’s SpaceX facility in Southern California.

CNBC has not confirmed whether Musk has visited the island, but Musk has denied traveling there.

Musk did not respond to a request for comment.

Emails released on Friday also show the following: October 2012, Musk referred Epstein’s questions to his cousin, SolarCity founder Peter Rive. Musk had personally invested in SolarCity and was on the company’s board of directors.

In the emails, Epstein asked if the solar installer could power his New Mexico ranch or private island. Musk asked Rive: October 4, 2012 email, “Are we in New Mexico?”
