Brisbane poaches arts visionary to shape festival’s future
The Brisbane Festival appointed Ebony Bott as the new art director who replaced Louise Bezzina.
BOTT has worked for twenty cultural institutions, including Adelaide Festival Center and Melbourne Art Center, and comes to the Brisbane Festival from the current role as the chairman of the contemporary performance at the Sydney Opera House.

Bott, the sixth art director of the festival history, said that the Brisbane Festival withdrew to the “Civil Ritual”.
“There is a certain local pulse and a platform that echoed far beyond.

“The most powerful festivals for me are not only going to go down to him, but grow up from the identity of their cities.”
Brisbane Festival President Anna Reynolds said Bott was not afraid to ask big questions.
“He understands the moment he is in Brisbane – a city at the summit of positioning on the global stage – and brings both brave and meticulousness to shape a speaking festival.”
