Jharkhand industrialist’s son rescued from Hazaribag two weeks after abduction

The son of a Jamshedpur-based industrialist, who was kidnapped on January 13, was rescued from Barhi in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district in the early hours of Tuesday, January 27, 2026, police said.
It was stated that industrialist Devang Gandhi’s son, Kairav (24), was kidnapped on his way to his office in the Adityapur industrial area in the Seraikela-Kharswan region.
“He was rescued safely by Jamshedpur Police today (January 27, 2026) and sent home around 4:30 am,” SP (City) Kumar Sivashish said. PTI.
An official statement said that the accused were planning to shift Mr. Kairav to another place “due to major raids by Jamshedpur Police”. Accordingly, it was stated that police teams were alerted and deployed to routes that were likely used by the kidnappers.
“Under increasing pressure from the police, the perpetrators released Mr. Kairav on the road in Chauparan-Barhi section of Hazaribag and fled,” the statement said. The statement said, “An effort has been initiated to catch the criminals.”
Earlier, police had found Mr. Kairav’s car in Kanderbeda area on National Highway-33 on the night of the incident. Devang Gandhi, who lives in Bistupur, is also the vice-president of Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA).
