The Milwaukee Brewers pulled one of the strangest double plays against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Monday night.
Dodgers slugger Max Muncy was in the top of the fourth inning with the bases loaded and one out. He hit a long shot to midfield. Brewers center fielder Sal Frelick pursued the ball, but the ball left his glove and hit the wall.

Frelick recovered and sent the ball upfield and the defense was able to force Teoscar Hernandez out. Will Smith misjudged the ball and never ran to third base, allowing catcher William Contreras to run to third base and get the final out from the throw.
Frelick was stunned. The Dodgers were unable to score any runs in that inning.

But the Brewers’ offense was still limited. Milwaukee trailed in order in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman hit a home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Los Angeles ahead by one.
