Kenyan plane carrying foreign tourists crashes, 11 dead

A light plane carrying foreign tourists crashed in Kenya, killing all 11 people on board.

The airline, Mombasa Air Safari, said the plane was carrying 10 passengers, including eight Hungarians and two Germans. The captain was Kenyan.

“Unfortunately, there are no survivors,” Mombasa Air Safari said in a statement.

The Civil Aviation Authority said the crash occurred in Kwale on the Indian Ocean coast on Tuesday morning.

In statements broadcast by public broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, a regional police commander said all the passengers were tourists.

Citizen TV channel said that the bodies of those on board were burned beyond recognition.

The aviation authority said the plane was traveling from Diani on the coast to Kichwa Tembo in Kenya’s Maasai Mara national reserve.
