Vision 2047 Has Heritage Status in Sight

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced Vision 2047 for heritage in the state, which aims to combine heritage and innovation to develop tourism, create employment and strengthen the cultural identity of the state.

As part of the roadmap, arts, heritage and traditional knowledge will be promoted as key elements in young people’s education and public life.

Tourism and culture directorates will organize heritage walks with communities to raise awareness about the rich heritage. A unique identity based on culture, craft and heritage will be created with the Telangana brand.

Additionally, Hyderabad and districts will be developed with signboards reflecting heritage, culture and traditions. Cultural heritage structures will be restored in a way that strengthens identity.

“The target for 2047 is to establish Telangana as a recognized global destination where unique heritage and innovation provide signature tourism experience and support in doing business,” officials said.

Additionally, the Old City Unesco Mission will integrate the Charminar, Macca Masjid and Chowmahalla Palace with restorations and heritage illumination. The other goal is to have the Old City included in the Unesco World Heritage Status.

The vision plans to pursue more Unesco sites in the state for cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), natural heritage and mixed heritage sites.

Buddhist sites and traditions will be developed by establishing stronger ties with Southeast Asian countries.

Step wells like Bansilalpet and ancient tanks in Warangal will be used as open-air theaters and night tourism spots with special performances.

The Kakatiya heritage site will be extended to Ramappa Temple, Thousand Pillars Temple, Warangal Fort and Karimnagar’s Elgandala and Medak Forts.
