‘Do not eat’ warning issued for snack that could contain glass

Poundland has pulled a popular pack of nuts from its shelves amid concerns the product may contain glass.

Budget store, The Tasty Snack Co. It issued a “do not eat” warning for bags of Roasted and Salted Cashew Nuts, saying the product may be unsafe to eat.

Customers are asked not to consume the products but instead return the nuts to the Poundland store for a full refund. A receipt is not required to receive a refund on this product.

Only batches of nuts sold in 100 gram bags with code 56T 25255 and an expiration date of July 19, 2026 will be affected by the recall.

The safety alert issued by Poundland reads: “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, the safety and trust of our customers and the quality of our products are at the heart of everything we do.”

If swallowed, glass fragments can cause damage, irritation and bleeding in the esophagus.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), which issued the recall, stated that the point-of-sale notices in question will be displayed in all retail stores selling hazelnuts. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they purchase the product.

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, the FSA may issue a recall to notify consumers and local authorities about problems with the food.

This comes after Aldi recalled a popular chocolate snack because it could be a possible health risk for anyone allergic to peanuts. Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s, an M&M-style chocolate treat, has been removed from shelves because it may contain peanuts.
