Taiwan Shuts Down Key Bridge For Military Drill To Stop Chinese Forces From Entering Taipei | World News

TAIPEI: Taiwan’s armed forces closed a key bridge for a military exercise in the Great Taipei on Tuesday, simulating Taipei’s efforts to prevent Chinese forces from moving towards the capitals. The Wanban Bridge, which connects the new Taipei’s Banqiao region to the Wanhua region of Taipei, was completely closed from Monday to 6 (local time) on Tuesday to facilitate the exercise. In two hours, the troops built a four -layer blockade in a 690 -meter range, showing Taiwan’s ability to respond to the potential Chinese land attacks.

The blockade combined military fortifications with civil resources, layered barricades, prickly wire, city buses and modern wire mesh barriers used in war zones such as newly acquired Hesco Bastions, Iraq and Afghanistan. Exercise, a People’s Liberation Army (PLA), often employed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to blur the line between war and peace, tried to violate the bridge using a reasonable “gray zone” tactic.

The military police used drones to detect the simulated enemy before entering a defensive fire department. In the scenario, PLA units broke three of the four barricade layers before neutralizing the Taiwan snipers and armored “cloudy leopard” vehicles. The operation resulted in full bridge gap and spot controls.

The Taiwan National Defense Ministry emphasized that the exercise is part of a wider campaign to strengthen the ready for urban war and to prevent enemy progress towards critical government and infrastructure centers such as the Presidential Office Building. Tuesday marked the seventh day of Taiwan’s Han Kuang exercises, which lasted until July 18th. The long period of this year, twice the previous exercises, underlines the increasing sense of urgency in the midst of Taiwan’s increasing military coercion.

The bridge exercise served as both education and a deterrent, reminded that Beijing’s defenses of Taiwan were awake, flexible and ready to fight for their freedom.
