Tamil Nadu election 2026: Mailam constituency residents demand higher education institutions, better civic amenities

Mailam Assembly Constituency in Villupuram district is heading for a tough and direct fight between former Minister and MP C.Ve. Shanmugam of AIADMK and L. Venkatesan of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), which is part of the DMK-led alliance.

While Mr. Shanmugam left Villupuram, Mr. Venkatesan, who was MLA of Tirukkoyilur Assembly Constituency in 2011, also shifted to Mailam. The ruling DMK has allotted the Tirukkoyilur seat to Goutham Sigamani, son of former Minister K. Ponmudy.
