Taser trial for prison staff to tackle violence behind bars

Specially trained personnel in Men’s prisons in the UK and Wales will be given by TASERS as part of a new hearing to squeeze violence.
The pilot seems to be paid more than £ 20 million money for new numbers obtained by the BBC show, attacked personnel and prisoners with damages for five years.
Ministers say that electric stuning weapons will look more widely after the attempt this summer.
The Prison Officers Association (POA) said that the cost of “unbearable” violence levels is a problem to deal with the government’s sense of urgency and the use of TASERs is delayed.
Speaking after watching a demonstration of technology at a training facility in Oxfordshire, Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood said that the government would not allow prisons to be controlled by fear or irregularity.
“We already use the protective body armor and we try TASERS to have the tools they need to keep them safe.”
Mark Fairhurst, the National President of POA, said: “Prisons have been extremely crowded for decades, which leads to boredom, drug addiction and violence, leading to lack of fields of activity for prisoners.
“Personnel should be equipped with personal protective equipment they need to suppress violence and prevent life -changing injuries.”
TASERS will be given to an expert national unit who will respond to complex and serious events in male prisons, including hostage situations and uprisings.

After being stabbed by a prisoner 15 years ago, former officer Claire Lewis, who was still influenced by severe TSSB, welcomes his presentation in limited situations.

The latest Ministry of Justice showed that the number of personnel attacking adult prisons in England and Wales reached a new summit last year.
According to the BBC request for freedom of information, between 2020 and 2024, there was a request for 334 compensation for prisoners’ attacks, 232 lawyer prisoners and 104 personnel allegations attacked prisoners.
Joan – not the real name – a former prison worker in Southeast England said, “In the past, they used to use Snooker balls in socks, now they use full drinks in socks to attack each other.
“They make a knife from the tuna boxes. I saw an officer silenced, so hot water was thrown on it.”
The prison service says the number of full -locking searches in high -security prisons increases the smuggling that increases the violence behind the bars to stop more.
Last month, new network and reinforced windows, such as anti-drone measures were announced.
Tom Wheatley, President of the Prison Governors Association, supported the Taser trial for expert officials, but did not make a wider presentation to the staff.
“If it is given to all civil servants daily, it may have additional risks,” he said.
“It is definitely not more generally published, because they constitute a threat item, so if someone managed to get a design from a staff member, this would be a real concern for us.”
