Tata Steel rules out joint ventures in India, bets on solo expansion for better control

“While the latest Dutch environmental order for potential cancellation is tied to the coke and gas unit, we note that the rolling mill and smelter have also been shut down recently. All this also creates uncertainty and delays in the transition to DRI-EAF here, as (Tata Steel Europe) will have to ensure that its future investments are protected against such moves,” analysts at Ambit Capital noted on Monday. DRI-EAF stands for Direct Reduced Iron and Electric Arc Furnace, a modern way of producing high efficiency steel.
