Tate brothers arrested in US after more charges laid against them in UK

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in the US after British authorities announced they would bring new charges against them.
The United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Andrew Tate has been charged with seven counts of rape, as well as other charges related to the alleged crimes, including sex trafficking and child pornography.
Tristan Tate is charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The alleged attack is said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. Tates has previously denied any wrongdoing.
Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Crime Section, said: “These charging decisions follow the receipt of a new evidence file from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in this case to seven.” he said.
The US Marshals Service confirmed to the BBC that Tates had been detained, while a US Department of Justice spokesman said the arrests were “pursuant to extradition proceedings”.
In a statement, the CPS said prosecutors would seek the extradition of the brothers.
In May 2025, prosecutors confirmed a list of 21 charges Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 37, would eventually face in the UK.
These alleged crimes are said to have occurred between 2012 and 2016.
