Teachers awaiting payments from SCERT for textbook preparation work

The Kerala Scert Textbook Writers and Trainers Forum accused the State Council of delaying the postponement for teachers and subject experts who participated in the textbook writing between 2023-24 as part of the school curriculum revision.
In the last two years, approximately 800 teachers participated in the textbook preparation process. They also prepare for teachers’ manual and module for teacher training and lead education. Since even half of the number of workshops they participated in is not paid, they stay away from preparing the teacher’s text. This affected learning in classes. For example, in the first period, Scert published the text for only three of the five units to be taught to X -class students in mathematics. A similar situation for other issues.
They claimed that Scert Director promised to pay the debts in stages in April. Forum, the teachers who participated in the textbook writing still expects to pay five months later, said that they are preparing to initiate protests and legal procedures.
