Teen accused of plotting to kill his baby’s mother’s new boyfriend had to ask for a ride: cops
A. Texas Teen allegedly set out to confront baby’s mother’s new boyfriend AR-15 – but police said they had to ask friends for gas money and a ride first.
Hugo Carlin, 19, was arrested Nov. 12 in Waco on charges of criminal solicitation-murder and is being held in McLennan County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Arrest warrants received KWTX It shows Carlin sending violent messages to friends before the planned confrontation, texting, “I smoke this nigga.”
Carlin also asked for help getting there, according to the message found on his phone.

The case began on Sept. 15, when a Waco officer stopped a vehicle occupied by Carlin for traffic violations. According to the warrant, Carlin and two other men were in the backseat with their guns in their laps.
Police seized five firearms from the backseat alone. Carlin was carrying a semi-automatic rifle armed with what officers described as “extremely high-capacity, very lethal ammunition.”
Another passenger, 21-year-old Misael Jimenez, was in possession of an AR-15 with a 30-round magazine filled with green-tipped ammunition; this is “designed to have less orbital loss when hitting things like windshields, metal, windows, etc.”

A young man sitting in the backseat had two guns on his waist; one of which was a gun reported stolen.
The front seat passenger, the only unarmed person in the car, told police that Carlin “was talking about confronting his child’s mother’s new boyfriend.”
Other people in the vehicle also stated that this was Carlin’s plan, according to the search warrants.
While the vehicle was confiscated because it had no insurance, 6 mobile phones were also confiscated. Investigators later learned the group had been communicating by phone and text throughout the day.
Police said the driver, 22-year-old Elian Guadalupe Araujo, picked up Carlin and others to support Carlin’s “desire to commit murder.”
Additional messages from Carlin’s phone included “I need gas money bro,” “I’m FR N****” and “I’m not playing.”

“This thread supports and corroborates the story told by the parties during the traffic stop that Hugo Carlin was looking for a vehicle or gas money. [Araujo] then he took Carlin and [the others] to help [Carlin] in the commission of the crime of murder and/or aggravated assault, police wrote.
Police said Jimenez and the boy intended to help Carlin when they entered the vehicle with fully loaded weapons and an AR-15 rifle.
Carlin, Jimenez and Araujo were all arrested on November 12. Their bond was set at $250,000 each.
Both Araujo and Jimenez are charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
The other two people in the vehicle were not charged.
