Teen charged with murder over stabbing death of boy, 15
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after another teenage boy was allegedly stabbed to death outside a hospital in Melbourne’s north.
Mickleham teenager Darweish Mohamed was found critically injured outside Craigieburn Community Hospital at around 7.50pm on Wednesday.
A hospital staff member performed CPR on the teenager, but he died in a parking lot just off Lygon Drive.
A burnt-out car linked to the incident was later found at Oaklands Junction, 10 kilometers from where Darweish was found.
On Friday morning, police confirmed they had charged two men they arrested in Pascoe Vale in the hours following the stabbing.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with murder and detained, while a 20-year-old Beveridge man was charged with criminal damage caused by the fire and released on bail.
Police also arrested two other teenagers: a 15-year-old boy was arrested on Friday morning and is currently being questioned; A 15-year-old girl was arrested Thursday night and charged with affray and motor vehicle theft. He was released on bail to appear in juvenile court at a later date.
More than a dozen Darweish friends gathered at the scene in Craigieburn on Thursday evening, in persistent rain, to confirm Darweish’s identity. Age.
The children created a makeshift memorial with photos, flowers and a teddy bear for their friend, who they said was a student at Mount Ridley College.
“He was a sweet guy,” said one boy, who agreed to remain anonymous because of his age.
The scene was cleared before 8am on Thursday as patients arrived at Craigieburn Community Hospital in cold and windy weather.
Sand covered a small patch of bitumen at the entrance to the parking lot of the medical center where Darweish is located.
Northern Health, which runs the hospital, confirmed a staff member found the teenager bleeding.
A spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the young man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. We are also providing support to the staff involved in this tragic incident.”
A spokesman said the Department for Education was providing support to affected schools.
“The young man’s death in last night’s violence will be extremely distressing for the local communities involved,” the spokesman said.
