Teenager, 17, who died in motorbike crash as he fled police had ‘illegally rented an Uber Eats licence’

A Uber EATS license ‘rented’ a 17 -year -old young, was killed when he came out of the police.

Leonardo Machado was too young to be a food distribution driver, but illegally earned money.

A Coroner, Lenardo in April 2023, poole, Dorset was told to be in a red light after the prevention of future deaths.

However, on a 600cc sports bike, he quickly appeared with a rear Uber EATS distribution box, but he lost control and hit the railings and suffered fatal wounds on his head and neck.

Dorset Coroner Brendan Allen sent his report to Uber EATS, only Eat and Deliveoo, about rental licenses given to young people under the age of 18.

He said that the children worked alone at night and delivered them to private people by placing them in vulnerable positions.

In the report, he read the following: There is an important national concern about the ‘renting of food distribution licenses below 18 years of age.

‘In general, food distribution platforms put age restrictions on those who can receive licenses to offer food.

However, it seems that there is no supervision of renting these licenses to people at the age limit.

‘He places these children in a vulnerable position: only working, usually at night, to surrender to individuals who are unknown to individuals, electric or motor scooters, mopeds or motorcycles and drivers.’

And said they use motorcycles or cycles that increase the risk of injury or death in traffic accidents.

Leonardo did not have a bicycle license.

Coroner, under the age of 18, food distribution licenses is not limited to leasing or that there is no limited supervision, ‘I believe that urgent action should be taken to prevent future deaths, and that your organization has the power to take such an action’.

It has 56 days to respond to the companies’ report.

Uber EATS was approached for a comment.
