Teenager charged in London with woman’s murder after UAE extradition | UK news

A teenager has been charged with murder over the death of a 27-year-old woman after being extradited to the UK from the United Arab Emirates.
The charge relates to the stabbing of Kamonnan Thiamphanit at a property in Bayswater, west London, on April 6, 2024.
Thiamphanit, also known as Angela, was found by police at her home address in Stanhope Place at around 8.30am. It was determined that the woman, who had multiple stab wounds, died at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police said 18-year-old Enzo Bettamio, of no fixed address, was successfully extradited on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday, following joint investigations by the force and specialist lawyers in the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units.
Bettamio was formally charged with Thiamphanit’s murder on Saturday and appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court.
He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. No defense was entered.
Police added that Thiamphanit’s family was aware of the update and continued to be supported by specialist officers.
DCI Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support of the investigation during what has been an incredibly difficult and distressing time for them.”
Thiamphanit, who has dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai citizenship and works in property management, had been living in the UK for nearly nine years.
