Teenager charged with arson over Kenton United Synagogue attack

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with arson following an attack on a synagogue in north-west London.
The teenager, a British citizen from Brent in north-west London, who cannot be named due to his age, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He is charged with arson without endangering life.
Footage appeared online of a darkly-clothed figure shining a light on a bottle of liquid and throwing it out the window at Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow late on Saturday.
Jewish charity Community Security Trust said there was minor smoke damage to one of the interior rooms but there were no injuries or serious structural damage.

The Metropolitan Police said a 19-year-old man arrested following the attack was released on bail pending further investigation.
The attack was the latest in a series of separate incidents targeting Jewish sites in London.
Four Jewish community ambulances were destroyed in an arson attack in Golders Green on 23 March, and a synagogue in Finchley and a former Jewish charity building in Hendon were also attacked.
In another incident, a drone flew near the Israeli embassy in London.
The group, which calls itself Harakat Ashab al-Yemin al-Islamiye, the Islamic Movement of the Right Companions, which is suspected of being backed by Iran, has claimed responsibility for most of the incidents, as well as other attacks in Europe since March 9.
