Teenager charged with murder over fatal Ascot Vale stabbing
Police have charged a teenager with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in Melbourne’s north-west on Sunday.
A 40-year-old man died in hospital after being found with stab wounds at the intersection of Maribyrnong and Union roads in Ascot Vale on Sunday afternoon. Police had previously charged an 18-year-old man but arrested a 16-year-old boy in Carlton on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment for a pre-existing hand injury and was interviewed later. On Wednesday night police confirmed the teenager had been charged with one count of murder and would appear in court at a later date.
It comes after officers charged a man, 18-year-old Alambs Mohmmed of no fixed address, in connection with the fatal stabbing on Monday. A lawsuit was filed against him for intentional injury, fighting, escaping from custody and theft.

Mohmmed appeared in court on Monday on charges of wounding with intent, fighting, escaping from custody and theft. The court heard he should have been in custody at the time the alleged crime was committed.
He did not apply for bail and will appear in court again on December 18.
Witnesses said they saw two criminals chase a man up and down both sides of Maribyrnong Road, then fight him under a tree as bystanders tried to intervene.
Officers said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the alleged stabbing.
