Tejashwi Yadav named CM face of Mahagathbandhan, RJD leader says…

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has been named the Chief Ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan alliance ahead of the 2025 Bihar assembly polls after days of speculation. At a major media press conference in Bihar’s Patna, Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani was declared the Deputy CM candidate of the RJD-led alliance, a major demand made by the VIP leader.

Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11 respectively and the counting of votes will be done on November 14. At the press conference in Bihar’s Patna, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said that Tejashwi Yadav will be the CM face of Mahagathbandhan in Bihar.

Tejashwi Yadav targeted the BJP-led NDA for not announcing its Chief Minister candidates. “BJP will not make Nitish Kumar chief minister again,” the RJD leader said, adding that the NDA was not a road map for the state. Former Deputy CM of Bihar Yadav expressed confidence that he can achieve in 20 months what others could not do in 20 years.

Mahagathbandhan and others, including CPI (ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram, Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Kumar Jha and Vikassheel Insaan Party Many prominent leaders of the INDIA bloc were present at the event. Sahani, who heads the Vikasheel Insaan Party, was selected as the Deputy CM candidate from the Mahagathbandhan. “I was waiting for this moment for 3.5 years. Now that moment has come. Not just VIP or Mukesh Sahani, thousands of party people were waiting for this. BJP corrupted our party and looted our MLAs… We had promised then with Ganga jal in hand – ‘BJP ko jab tak hum todenge nahi, tab tak chhoddenge nahi’… The time has come, we are standing strong Mahagathbandhan in Bihar We will form our government and kick out the BJP from the state. Mahagathbandhan is united and strong. “We will work in the coming period and establish our government,” he said.

CPML leader Deepankar Bhattacharya said: “The people of Bihar have been waiting for elections for a long time. This election is for youth, farmers, women and the poor… We want to assure the people that Bihar is ready… This Mahagathbandhan will fight together to win the election.”

The 2025 Bihar elections will see the main contest between the National Democratic Alliance and Mahagathbandhan. The NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. In Mahagathbandhan led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress party, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) is included.

Moreover, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj also claimed all 243 seats in the state.
