Telangana doctors’ body seeks seniority-based transfers, removal of focal area categorisation

Members of the Telangana Training Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) have submitted a representation to the Director of Medical Education (DME) seeking various changes in the ongoing transfer process, including increasing the transfer quota, removing focal and non-focal classification and prioritizing transfers based on seniority.

The association called on the government to consider transferring up to 40% of the workforce so that more doctors working in surrounding areas can benefit from this scheme. The association also requested the government not to separate focal and non-focus areas for DMO doctors.

Doctors also requested that transfers be implemented primarily on the basis of seniority. The agency also called for clarity on union recognition and exemptions, urging the government to follow existing General Administration Department (GAD) guidelines and provide clear written instructions to avoid ambiguity.

The representation also highlighted concerns in super-specialty departments, stating that doctors practicing in subsidiaries in such departments should be taken into consideration as transfers in these categories had not been made during the previous transfer cycle.
