Telangana Dy CM Slams BRS For Downplaying Debt Burden Imposed By KCR Govt

Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said a debt of over Rs 8.21 lakh crore was incurred during the previous BRS regime and criticized the party for underestimating it. He also said that BRS was running a Goebbels campaign against the Congress government on various issues.
“You (BRS regime) took loans in different ways. (These) are loans under FRBM (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) rules, in the name of companies, dues paid to employees, dues paid to discoms (power distribution companies). In total, you paid loans, dues of Rs 8,21,651. Is this not true?”
Alleging that it was BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao who “destroyed” the state when he was the Chief Minister, he challenged KCR to state whether the debt burden was correct. He said KCR should respond to the debt burden.
He said BRS working president KT Rama Rao and party MLA T Harish Rao, who repeat the same lies every day, should answer whether the state government should pay the dues.
Vikramarka said the Congress government has paid Rs 2.08 lakh crore, including principal and interest, to banks in the last 30 months due to loans taken by the BRS regime.
He said the government restructured its debts because BRS received loans at interest rates of 10 percent and above.
He said the government has so far restructured 34.058 billion rupees to 11.915 billion rupees (payable by 2031-32).
Referring to BRS’s allegations that 40 lakh tonnes of coal belonging to state-run Singari Collieries had gone missing, he said he had ordered an inquiry into the matter and the Director (Vigilance) of the government-owned mining firm would investigate the matter.
He said that the authorities stated that not even a kilo of coal would be lost as the ‘geo-fencing’ system was implemented.
He said that the BRS government has not been able to procure new coal blocks for Singari despite being in power for 10 years.
The Deputy CM’s criticism of BRS came in the wake of a major drama that unfolded on July 2, when ministers of the Congress government arrived at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial to participate in a public debate with opposition BRS leaders over allegations of fraud and debt accumulation leveled by both the ruling and opposition parties against each other.
