‘Fantastic’ dad, 32, dies during incident on North Sea oil rig | UK | News

A 32-year-old offshore worker tragically lost his life on a drilling platform in the North Sea, and the police launched an investigation into the matter. Lee Hulse, from Torry, Scotland, died while working on the Valaris 121 oil rig off the coast of Aberdeen in the early hours of Friday, November 14.
Former Torry Academy pupil believed to have died after falling from crane Daily Log. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), who flew to the platform with Police Scotland following his death, are currently carrying out a detailed investigation. Police Scotland confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman said: “At around 4.40am on Friday, November 14, we received a report of the death of a 32-year-old man on a drilling rig in the North Sea. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
An HSE spokesman said: “We are aware of the incident and will investigate alongside Police Scotland.”
A Valaris spokesperson said: “Valaris regrets to report that a crew member on board the Valaris 121 jack up drilling rig has sadly died as a result of an incident in the early hours of Friday 14 November. His next of kin have been informed and Valaris is offering their support at this difficult time.
“All personnel remaining on V121 at the time of the incident were safely accounted for. Valaris’ priority is the safety and well-being of all personnel. Operations on V121 have been temporarily suspended.”
In a tribute post, former football team Golden Tee FC wrote: “Everyone at Golden Tee FC is devastated to hear of the tragic loss of our former player, captain and friend Lee Hulse.
“’Hulsey’ was a dedicated and passionate actor, but more importantly, a great person, partner and father.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Lee’s grieving family. A statement for the fundraiser read: “Lee passed away tragically and very suddenly. Leaving behind the family who loved him most. No family partner or friend is prepared for this type of loss.”
“Lee has always looked out for his family and all his friends, so it’s our turn to make sure we look after him, give him the best send-off he deserves, and make sure his child is well taken care of. Christmas is also coming up and I want them to have one less thing to worry about.”
