In a festive gesture ahead of Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday announced an increase in Valuation Allowance (DA) and Dearness Allowance (DR) for government employees and pensioners. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the rates have been increased from 55 percent to 58 percent from July 1, 2025.

Describing the decision as a catalyst for security and prosperity for state government staff and retirees during the festive season, CM Yogi said, “On the occasion of the grand festival of Deepavali, this decision will act as a catalyst to improve the standard of living while lighting the lamp of contentment, security and prosperity in the lives of nearly 28 lakh dedicated workers and retirees. Congratulations to all!”
Earlier, CM Yogi announced a “bonus” for 14.82 lakh state employees before Diwali. The state government will spend Rs 1.022 billion for this. According to reports from the UP CM’s office, bonuses of up to Rs 6,908 per employee will be given based on 30 days’ wages.
However, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Tuesday announced a special bonus to nearly six lakh state government employees on the occasion of Diwali.
The bonus will be given to those working at the L-12 salary level or a salary of Rs 4,800 or less, the Prime Minister said. He said every eligible employee will get a maximum temporary bonus of Rs 6,774.

The CM further wrote: “This bonus will be given to state government employees working at L-12 pay level or salary level of Rs 4,800 and below in the pay scale. Every eligible employee will get interim bonus of maximum Rs 6,774. The benefit of this decision will also extend to Panchayat Samiti and District Council employees.” he wrote.
Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel had decided to give an interim bonus of up to Rs 7,000 to Class 4 employees to make their Diwali more enjoyable. Around 16,921 Class-4 employees will be given temporary bonus of up to Rs 7,000.
According to the Gujarat CMO, this includes employees working in state cabinet departments, Legislative Assembly Speaker, Whip, Deputy Whip, Deputy Chief Whip, as well as employees working in panchayats, university-affiliated colleges, aid-providing schools and colleges, and Class 4 employees in state government boards and companies where the respective boards or companies do not otherwise provide perks.
