Telangana Tops Dowry Murders In South

Haydarabad: Tahangana, the latest National Crime Registration Bureau for 2023 (NCRB), according to all the southern states, the highest number of murders for the dowry. The state reported the cases of murder of 36 dowry, far behind the great criminals such as West Bengal (220) and Odisha (224), but in front of all other southern neighbor (26) (26), Maharashtra (5) and Tamil Nadu (1). In the metropolitan cities, Haydarabad took part in the list of three of the seven dowry murder reported in 2023.
The country witnessed an increase of 14 percent in dowry cases, filed more than 15,000 complaints and 6,100 dowry -linked deaths (including suicides) recorded in 2023. Tahangana reported 145 dowry deaths, but in 1961, only four cases were recorded within the scope of the Dowry Probibation Law. While the state saw a slight decrease in 44 dowry murder in 2022, the figures remain higher than all other southern states.
The last cases reflect the ongoing savagery. In August, a 21 -year -old woman in Hanamkonda allegedly refused to provide dowry by her husband Ganesh. He fled after locking the house. At the same time, a 33 -year -old woman in Kothagudem died by her husband and mother -in -law after a claim of hunger, imprisonment and physical abuse.
Authorities connect the number to reporting, not an increase in crime. The senior officials tried to explain the higher numbers of the state by improving the larger population and reporting. “These figures reflect not only the crimes committed, but also the population size and accessibility of the reporting mechanisms. TaLangana police facilitated women’s complaints,” he said.
However, NCRB’s mid-year population estimates indicate that Tahangana’s female population (189.6 lakh) andhra Pradesh (226.1 Lakh), Karnataka (385.4 Lakh), Tamil Nadu (385.4 Lakh) and Mahashtra (608 Lakh) -ve in a way higher. Explains the high figures of the state.
A second official admitted that the tendency remained worrying, despite the driving forces of awareness. Authorized, “We see frequently reported murders, but such events are disturbing. We continue to raise awareness and we call on women to approach women’s police stations for any harassment connected to marriage or dowry,” he said.
