Telangana’s First Glass Bridge In Shape Of Heart To Open In 3 Months at Husnabad

Karimnagar: Husnabad in Karimnagar district will be home to Telangana’s first glass bridge at Yellamma Cheruvu, with officials aiming to open it to the public within three months as part of the Rs 18-crore lakeside development project. The construction of the heart-shaped bridge, located approximately 20 meters above the water, is in the final stages. Designed to offer a “walking on air” experience, the structure is expected to draw visitors from across the state, officials said.
Built at a cost of approximately 5 billion rupees, the 150-meter-long and 1.5-meter-wide bridge has high-strength transparent glass panels that allow visitors to see the lake below. Engineers conduct safety tests and assemble final components to meet standards set before opening.
The project is being carried out under the supervision of Backward Classes welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who supervises the progress and issues instructions to the officials. The initiative aims to position Husnabad as an entertainment destination and increase tourism-led economic activity.
The project also includes wider beautification of the Yellamma Cheruvu area, modeled on Komati Cheruvu in Siddipet. The works include a Bathukamma Ghat, landscaped gardens, greenery and a walking path for cultural events. Lighting systems and designated photo spots are installed to support visitor activity after sunset.
Municipal commissioner T. Mallikarjun Goud said, “The construction of the glass bridge has entered its final and most important phase; the remaining works are being carried out at an expeditious pace to ensure that every technical detail meets the quality standards.”
“They are optimistic that all pending installations and safety checks will be completed within the next three months. Once the final touches are completed, the glass bridge will be opened to the public and Husnabad will feature prominently on the tourism map of Telangana, attracting visitors from across the state.”
