Terminally ill should be spared council tax, say charities

BBCHe said that two of Britain’s leading life charities should be paid from the Council tax to live less than 12 months.
The Manchester Municipal Assembly was believed to be the first local authority to introduce the plan last month.
Now Marie Curie and Darüceze England want other local councils and transferred governments to follow the case.
The local government association and the transferred administrations say that Council tax payments and some appreciation and support are already present for people in challenging situations.
Nathaniel Dye, a 39 -year -old primary school music teacher from London, has been busy living in 2022 since he diagnosed a terminal cancer.
However, since it was said earlier this year, there has been less than 12 months to live as his health deteriorates, and his financing has been sharply focused on.
Especially in the Council tax, it pays about 200 £ 200 per month.
“The Council may not come much to have tax exemption, it is not the biggest tax burden that people should pay, but really, really important.
“It represents something, it represents its invaluable peace for me.
“This doesn’t have to worry about the little things. Maybe even when approaching the end of life, otherwise it can even be able to provide a kind of luxury that may not be able to meet.”
Extra costs
Terminal diagnosis, especially working age, may face serious personal finance results.
Jamie Thunder from Marie Curie says it can lead to an important income shock.
“This may mean that you may need to reduce your watches or stop working completely, and if they look at you, you may have your partner.
“At the same time you may have additional costs around energy. Especially medical devices … You can get the device from NHS, but you do not support operating costs.
“Council tax is one of the larger bills you may need to pay. At the same time, a person is particularly worried about being missing, because the implementation of the council tax can be quite sudden and can rise quite quickly.
“So it is really valuable to take this pressure.”
How does the Manchester scheme work?
In Manchester, if they present a letter from a resident clinician to a letter that shows that it is less than twelve months to live, they no longer have to pay the council tax.
It will not have to restart the repayment for several months if the person’s homes are close to the end of the financial year or if their deaths are close to this cutting point after the person dies.
Bev Craig, the leader of the municipal council, says that this is a way to hope to alleviate the burden of bills at the most challenging times.
“For most people, the parliamentary tax is still one of the biggest bills, so we say it as a council, what can we do practically to get one of the biggest bills that people should worry about?
“This is sometimes about showing that public services can be sensitive, flexible and compassionate.”
Marie Curie and Darüceze England want other officials to do the same.
They claim that the cost of public finances will be minimum, but they claim that individual household peoples – emotional and financially – will be great.
The Local Government Association representing the Councils in the UK and the administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland say that there are already some appreciation and supports for deadly patients, but many will follow the Manchester plan with interest.
