‘Terrifying’: TV pilot ‘tried to thwart’ crash probe

Reality TV star Matt Wright heard a jury.

Royal Prosecutor Jason Gullaci SC told the High court in Darwin to prevent Wright on Wednesday to prevent the accident inspectors to avoid serious charges against him.

The Outback Wrangler star and the helicopter operator have not been found to be guilty of trying to mislead the course of justice after the February 2022 accident.

His best friend and his assistant star, Chris “Willow” Wilson was killed and pilot Sebastian Robinson remained paralyzed down the waist.

The couple was in the Crocodile-Yumurta gathering at Arnhem Land in the northern region, and Mr. Wilson hanged in a line under the shore to be left to Croc nests.

Wright is accused of lying to collapse about the amount of fuel on the machine, asking Mr. Robinson to falsify flight times and “torment the maintenance version of a friend of the helicopter.

Prosecutors claim that Wright has worried that researchers have regularly connected to the researchers to reach out to the official thresholds of the flight hours of helicopters, and that they are regularly disconnected to match the documents.

The accusations against him were not related to the cauldron, and the prosecution did not claim that he was responsible for the accident, the death of Mr. Wilson or the injuries of Mr. Robinson.

At the closing address on Wednesday, Mr. Gullaci said that Wright entered the accident scene that day and looked behind the plane’s console to check if the hobbs flying clock was connected.

According to the prosecutor, the motivation was to make sure that Wright and pilots were not found unconnected by collision researchers who could bring together routinely reported flight times.

If this emerged, there was a real possibility that Wright could be blamed during the accident, and when someone was killed, “a terrible possibility”, Gul Gullaci said.

Wright knew that a 2200 -hour threshold, which should be given a comprehensive revision of the collapsed Chopper’s flight times, the machine retirement or a comprehensive revision that cost $ 500,000.

“You can eliminate this cost,” Gullaci said, if you change the flight hours.

Wright’s secret records to the jury claim that the collapsed Chopper is willing to control Hobbs meter.

“I had to check myself, I didn’t know if Seb was about the machine.”

Mr. Gullaci said it was “quite cool and clinical and pre -designed behavior.”

“The best friend was not too far away, and Sebastian Robinson was ventilated by life -threatening injuries.”

The prosecutor was the only inference from Wright to the jury, trying to hide the evidence from researchers, and his intention was to mislead the course of justice.

The jury heard that Wright controls the helicopter in a legal statement to the police and was “semi -full”.

But then, the tanks were caught secret records, saying that there was “zero” fuel and Mr. Robinson was “shit pilot”.

The records showed that Wright’s statements to the police were “clearly wrong”.

“We … These are the lies we trust to count.”

The defense chose not to put Wright in the booth and did not call any witnesses.

Justice Allan Blow’s hearing before acting is expected to be completed this week.
