Andrew ‘still believes he’s entitled to’ taxpayer-funded benefit – expert | Royal | News

Royal commentator Rafe Haydel-Mankoo claims Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor “has always believed he was entitled to taxpayer-funded security”. The 66-year-old has not been provided security courtesy by taxpayers since stepping down from royal duties in 2019.
His decision to step back was due to his connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The Crown has consistently denied any wrongdoing involving Epstein.
Speaking to GB News about Andrew’s current security situation, Mr Haydel-Mankoo said the family had been left in an “extremely uncomfortable situation”, particularly following a recent security threat.
He said: “This intersects with family loyalty, public anger, and then the survival of the monarchy is at stake, so there are three competing elements here.”
Speaking of Andrew, she added that Andrew seemed confused as to why he didn’t have the same rights as his family members.
He said: “Andrew always believed he was entitled to taxpayer-funded security, his titles and everything else.
“He still doesn’t seem to fully understand why he’s in this position.”
“But from the perspective of the Royal Family and the monarchy, it is quite clear that protection privileges cannot be separated from public service and public legitimacy, and he has lost both.”
Royal author Andrew Lownie’s book, titled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which will be published in paperback on May 21, shared details of how much Andrew cost taxpayers during his decade in office.
He wrote: “…Trade ambassador Andrew is estimated to have cost British taxpayers around £15 million in travel costs and police protection.”
