According to the information obtained, legendary comedian Billy Crystal and his wife Janice flocked to the house of their close friends Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner to say goodbye immediately after the couple’s tragic murder.
It is understood Billy and Janice arrived while emergency services were tending to the victims. Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found stabbed to death at their £10 million property in Beverly Hills.
Police confirmed at a press conference yesterday that their son Nick, 32, had been charged with murder.
According to reports, the couple’s daughter Romy made the gruesome discovery and immediately contacted authorities before informing Crystals of the devastating news. Footage has since emerged showing Billy, 77, and Janice at the scene as first responders worked.
The father of two looked visibly distressed, walking arm in arm with his wife, covering his face with his hands and apparently wiping away tears.
Billy ‘tried to say goodbye’
Three-time Golden Globe nominee Billy reportedly wanted to “say goodbye” to his dear friend after receiving Romy’s call, TMZ reported.
Rob was the creative force behind some of cinema’s most beloved films in the 1980s and 1990s; these included 1987’s Stand By Me and The Princess Bride, 1992’s gripping courtroom drama A Few Good Men, and 1989’s romantic hit When Harry Met Sally, starring Billy.
Their friendship spanned decades and they first crossed paths in 1975 on the set of the groundbreaking sitcom All In The Family, where they starred as close friends. Rob’s son Nick was initially given $4 million (£3 million) bail, but this was later rescinded.
‘Dangerous’ nature of family member
He is currently in custody in Downtown Los Angeles.
Rob and Michele’s daughter Romy initially suggested to police that a family member “must be a suspect” due to their “dangerous” nature.
Just hours before the director’s tragic death, a heated argument reportedly broke out between Nick and Rob at a party hosted by an American chat show icon.

The bodies of the 78-year-old Hollywood actor-director and his 68-year-old wife were found Sunday in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles.
An LAPD spokesperson confirmed they were investigating an “apparent homicide” and speaking with family members.
The Oscar-nominated star, known for directing iconic films such as Spinal Tap and When Harry Met Sally, reportedly suffered cuts consistent with stab wounds along with his wife, Michele.
He discovered them when his daughters stopped by their home for a visit.
